Support your community network by becoming a member of the East Shore Internet Society!
ESIS’s mandate is to provide reliable, affordable high speed wireless networking and internet access for central Kootenay Lake residents, businesses and organizations; to support existing educational and health services, local economic opportunities, and enhance the general well-being and vitality of our communities. An incorporated not-for-profit supported by dedicated local volunteers, ESIS operates the community network on behalf of its members. We follow the co-op model, with subscription services available to members, and the community network belonging to the membership. As a member of ESIS you have a stake in the network and a say in the activities and policy of ESIS and are eligible to vote at our Annual General Meeting and run to be a director.
By becoming a member of the society you also demonstrate proof of local commitment toward our community initiative, lending additional support to our applications for further funding to expand the network’s service area. It is our goal to be a central Kootenay Lake area Internet Service Provider, and in partnership with other regional community networks to work towards forming a Kootenay Lake spanning wireless network.
A basic membership in ESIS is available for the one time fee of only $10 per household or business. If you would like to donate more we also recognize Supporting ($50 or greater) and Sponsoring ($100 or greater) memberships. We appreciate whatever you can afford to contribute toward the society and our locally owned and operated community network
